Advantages of STEM Tutoring
STEM tutoring is a special program at Lumen Learning Center in Sunnyvale. We usually have STEM classes as part of our summertime curriculum. We group the children into age ranges and offer about 5 or more classes over the course of a couple of months.
Creativity is Unleashed
Creativity is the foundation of creation. A mind that is inquisitive, creative and can ask “what if?” will go on to develop many things that help humanity. STEM is a program geared toward creativity and actually demands it.
It’s OK to Try and Fail and Try Again
If you try something and fail, that’s ok. It’s encouraged to try new things and see what’ll happen. Failing at something a child thought would work is one of the best learning experiences. And that experience will foster many new ideas – some of which will be very successful.
Teamwork
STEM is all about working with a team to create and discover while learning. It is an assignment of learning collaboration. Each team member brings their own special talents to the mix to accomplish things.
Real World Skills
In the STEM class a child learns numerous skills that they will use in the real world immediately. STEM prepares them for life today, right now. This isn’t something that will only be used later on.
Critical Thinking
A child learns to think critically in order to solve problems. This will apply to all parts of their lives, not just their career or studies.
