Math tutoring is a real godsend when the tutor knows how to determine a student’s natural learning style. When someone simply doesn’t grasp mathematics, it can be due to the teacher teaching in a style that is not easily grasped. There are many different learning styles that have been discovered.
Math Tutoring
When you or your child enrolls in Lumen Learning Center for math tutoring, the student is evaluated for learning disabilities and learning style, among other things. The student is then matched with a tutor that can teach in that style and address any learning or other issues.
Learning styles that might have an effect on learning math are auditory, kinesthetic and visual styles. Each person has their natural learning style and most are found in these three styles, but there are others.
Auditory learners do best when listening to the lesson. This student does well with little songs that are used to learn a topic. They can easily grasp concepts with audio tapes.
Kinesthetic learners tend to like to touch and feel props while learning. Playing a card game to learn a subject makes learning very easy for kinesthetic style students.
Visual learners like to see videos that explain a topic, like those cartoon explainer videos. These students love graphs and charts. It is easy for them to recall these charts and to retrieve the information in the lesson.
Lumen Learning Center
Lumen Learning Center goes that extra mile with your student’s math tutoring to find out how he or she learns naturally. In public school all students are given a cookie cutter style of learning. We know that not all students learn in the same way. By tailoring the lessons to the student’s learning style, suddenly math is easy and loved.
