Some students find math fascinating and only mildly challenging. Others students are always exclaiming, “Why is math so hard?!” It seems logical that the subject is the same for everyone, therefore all students should have the same level of difficulty. But that is not the case. Here is the wild factor that few people take into consideration when it comes to learning math.

Why is Math So Hard?!

Those students who appear to be suffering and rarely miss a day to complain, “Why is math so hard?!” usually have profound difficulty when it comes to math. It is a legitimate complaint. While it is easy to blame the student for not trying hard enough or tell them to focus, those things are not why the subject is so difficult for them. It could be dyscalculia.

Dyscalculia

In a nutshell, dyscalculia is a learning challenge that causes a student to struggle with number formulas, shapes and any concepts that involve numbers. No matter how hard they try or how many hours they put into studying, they just cannot think that way.

Fallen Behind

It isn’t always a learning disability at work. If the student missed out on the beginning classes where the basic foundations were laid out in mathematics, then they will have great difficulty making sense of it all.

Not a Fan

Not everyone enjoys a good math equation. Some people are simply not fans of math. When forced to spend hours studying math their mind goes blank and they get stressed out. Math isn’t for everyone.
